One fish, two fish…
Early in my process of developing Reynaldo, I read “Carpe Jugulum” by Sir Terry Pratchett to kickstart my brain on vampire variants. Towards the beginning of the book, a character tries the trick of closing their eyes, flipping a book open to a random page, pointing to a random word, and using that as guidance.
I figured I might as well try it. I wondered what to try it with. The first thing that came to mind was Reynaldo’s favorite animal. I thought there was no way that would work, but tried it.
When I opened my eyes, my fingertip was on the word “fishes.”
